A care home in Shrewsbury has orchid-strated a very special afternoon for residents.
Care UK’s Oxbow Manor, on Oteley Road, hosted a flower arranging workshop, allowing residents’ creativity to blossom.

The team welcomed Jane Williams from Shrewsbury Flower Club, who provided expert tips and a variety of beautiful blooms for residents to transform into vibrant bouquets.
Participants were given guidance on preparing stems, arranging flowers and selecting complementary colours to create stunning displays, which are now proudly displayed in their bedrooms and in shared spaces throughout the home.
Resident Valerie Paterson, 86, whose lifelong hobby has been gardening and flower arranging, said: “I had a lovely time being creative again with the flowers Jane bought. I look forward to doing it all again at Christmas!”
Michelle Maiden, Home Manager at Oxbow Manor, added: “Residents had a wonderful time getting their creative juices flowing during the flower arranging session.
“Craft sessions like this offer numerous therapeutic benefits for older people, particularly those living with dementia. They provide an alternative means of expression, stimulate creativity and encourage social interaction, giving participants a real sense of purpose. It was heartwarming to see everyone take pride in their beautiful creations.
“The day wouldn’t have been possible without the support of the members of Shrewsbury Flower club so I’d like to say a big thank you on behalf of us all at Oxbow Manor.”
