Redhill care home residents enjoy magical youth ballet performance

Residents at a Redhill care home were treated to a ballet performance worthy of a standing ovation.

Talented dancers from the London Children’s Ballet brought the magic of theatre to residents at Care UK’s Coppice Lea, on Bletchingley Road, with a special performance.

The talented young performers wowed residents with a series of graceful and well-choreographed routines, before sitting down for a chat after the show, giving everyone an opportunity to get a look behind the curtain and learn more about the London’s Children Ballet. Residents were also able to  reminiscence and share their own experiences of evenings spent dancing, watching performances and enjoying theatre shows.

Linda Bentham, a resident at Coppice Lea, said: “Wow, what a lovely show, a variation of an old fairy tale. The dancers portrayed the songs beautifully. Not only were they professional and talented, but they looked like they were really enjoying themselves. It was a pleasure to watch.”

Shannon Hamilton, Home Manager at Coppice Lea, said: “It was wonderful to welcome the talented dancers from the London Children’s Ballet to Coppice Lea. Their enthusiasm, professionalism and passion for performing really shone through, and the residents thoroughly enjoyed every moment.

“We know how important it is to provide meaningful experiences that reflect residents’ interests and encourage them to continue enjoying the things they love. Music and live performances have a unique ability to evoke memories, inspire conversations and bring people together, and this special visit certainly achieved that.

“We’d like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone at the Ballet for giving up their time to perform for residents and for making the day so memorable. We are eagerly looking forward to their next visit!”

Coppice Lea has been designed to deliver the highest standards of care, and to enable residents to lead active and fulfilling lives. The home provides full-time residential, nursing and dementia care and has plenty of space for activities. Facilities at the home include a café and a hair salon, as well as landscaped gardens.
