Carpathia Grange is a closely-knit team of managers, carers, nurses and support colleagues – and each of us is dedicated to your loved one’s care, health and wellbeing.

Jodie Lavers

Home Manager

Jodie Lavers

We have a terrific team at Carpathia Grange.

I started working here in 2020 and have progressed from Team Leader to Unit Manager, then Deputy Manager, and now Home Manager.

We all work incredibly hard, and I am really proud of what we have achieved. So far we have received gold standard framework accreditation, which shows that we consistently deliver high quality end of life care when it is needed.

We have also achieved VIPS accreditation which focuses on high quality person-centred care for residents living with dementia. Both demonstrate our commitment to residents, ensuring we make a real difference to those we support.

As Home Manager, it’s important to have good communication skills, be transparent and have a vision for high standards. As a leader, you also need to be positive and approachable; it is my role to provide help and support to colleagues as well as residents.

My favourite part of working here is ensuring all residents enjoy being at Carpathia Grange. We create happy memories and actively nurture healthy lifestyles. Seeing smiles on the lovely faces of residents makes me smile too. I feel privileged to be able to make such a positive difference to people’s lives.

Outside of work, I love a spa day to unwind and relax. I also enjoy spending time with my family.

Deputy Manager
5 Year Service Badge

I have worked in care for ten years and have level three and five NVQs. I am also taking part in Care UK’s Deputy Manager programme. I am really proud to be here and work for an organisation that has a strong reputation for high quality care and teamwork.

In my role you need to be patient and calm. You also need to be able to work under pressure. Having excellent organisational skills is essential too.

What I do is really rewarding, knowing that I can have a positive impact on those around me. Being Deputy Manager also means offering support to colleagues. I’ve worked really hard for a long time and when I look back, I feel good about what I’ve been able to achieve.

I enjoy bringing the team together in order to provide the very best care. I love seeing residents smile and laugh; it shows we are doing a good job. It is also important that relatives trust us to care for their loved ones.

Outside of work I like to stay fit and go to the gym. I also love baking celebration cakes and spending time with my family.

Customer Relations Manager

Before joining Care UK, I was a team leader working within the energy sector. I am also a medical professional and ran my own private clinic in Oxford for over a decade. When I first saw the customer relations manager position, I felt it combined all my professional skills and interests perfectly. In particular, it was the commitment to exceptional customer service and the uncompromising high-quality care that appealed to me.

In this role, you need to be driven, energetic, innovative and be a good communicator to get people engaged. It is also essential to remain both professional and compassionate in a variety of situations.

Searching for a new home for a loved one can feel overwhelming, but being customer relations manager is all about connecting people, supporting families and helping ease any worries. Our role is to make sure residents live a full, rich life and it’s important to reassure relatives of that.

My favourite part of the day is the time I spend interacting with residents and their families. Seeing the positive impact we have on their daily lives is incredibly rewarding. My role here is one I feel proud of and I am part of a team that genuinely cares about doing their best for everyone living here.

Outside of work I like strength training and enjoying the local New Forest with my young family. I also enjoy escape rooms when I get the chance.

Head Chef
5 Year Service Badge

As Head Chef at Carpathia Grange, every day is different. I manage our lovely reception team and a big part of what we do is to make sure families and visitors feel welcome.

You have to be adaptable and ready to tackle anything that crops up – from billing to recruitment – but I love the variety.

I joined Care UK because it supports career progression. I have a level three NVQ and was previously Head Housekeeper. I have learned so much already in my new role and look forward to that continuing.

I feel incredibly lucky to be part of a successful team that always has residents best interests at heart. Carpathia Grange is a real community, and I feel proud when I see the difference we can make to people’s lives – residents, families, colleagues and visitors.

Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family and going for long walks with my dogs.

Lifestyle Co-Ordinator

I decided to work for Care UK because I thought it was a great opportunity to use my skills to improve residents’ lives.

Within my role I believe you need to be caring, creative, patient and organised to ensure that we always have an up to date and stimulating activity schedule that meets the needs of residents.

My favourite part of the day is seeing and speaking to the residents; I love getting to know them personally and making a difference to their day. And that’s why the most important part of my role is to find out their thoughts on the activities we do, and what they would like to do to ensure that are our activities are person-centred.

I am a trained dementia care coach, a Namaste practitioner, and am currently training to become a mental health first aider. I have also completed training in a number of other areas including, moving and positioning, pressure ulcer care, learning disabilities, catheter care and sepsis awareness.

I was drawn to Care UK because of its reputation for compassionate person-centred care. I wanted to be part of an organisation that makes a meaningful difference in people’s lives, especially those living with dementia.

As with any role in care, you have to have empathy, patience, compassion and a genuine desire to support others. Good communication skills are important too.

Before becoming team leader here, I was a healthcare assistant for another care organisation. I wanted to join Care UK because of its strong reputation for delivering high-quality person-centred care.

Throughout my career, I’ve completed a broad range of training, including courses in moving and handling, safeguarding, pressure ulcer prevention, catheter care, sepsis awareness, infection control, autism awareness, falls prevention, and dining with dignity.

In this role, it’s important to have good communication and leadership skills. You also need to be patient, compassionate and motivated with a proactive attitude, while also being able to work under pressure.

The key aspect of what I do is ensuring the safety, dignity and overall wellbeing of residents, as well as supporting colleagues to deliver the highest standards of care.

The best part of the day for me is interacting with residents and being able to have a laugh with them. Being able to make them happy and see them smile makes a real difference. I also really enjoy mentoring colleagues.

I love to spend my time outside of work with my family, we also like to go camping.

I was a senior carer before becoming a team leader. My previous roles mean I’ve completed dozens of courses, including training in dementia, first aid and fall prevention, learning disabilities, infection control, end of life care, health and safety, diabetes care and IDDSI (International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative).

I would also say that completing the Gold Standards Framework (GSF) for end-of-life care has been a big career highlight for me. It means we can support people and provide high-quality personalised care.

In any care role, you need to be passionate and motivated. You also need good communication skills as it’s a real team effort. The most important part of what we do is ensuring residents (and colleagues) are safe, looked after and happy. I love being able to help others and make a positive difference to their lives.

When I’m not at work I spend my time with family. I also enjoy exploring other countries.

Before joining Carpathia Grange, I also worked as a CAMHS Business Support Administrator.

I chose this role because I wanted to continue developing my administration skills while being part of a supportive and encouraging team that values career progression. I enjoy that every day is different, from building relationships with staff to meeting new residents and their loved ones.

Outside of work, I enjoy running, going to the gym, baking, camping, beach days, summer barbecues, spending time with friends, and relaxing at home with movies and snacks.

Head Housekeeper

I have been part of the Carpathia Grange team before and am delighted to be back. I have had training in infection prevention control and first aid; I’m also a trained fire warden.

I wanted to rejoin the team here because Carpathia Grange has such a lovely, homely feel and an exceptional sense of teamwork. In my current role, I think you need strong leadership skills and the ability to listen and be empathetic to challenges. For me, it is important to be a great manager and support my team, so they are able to do their best work.

Attention to detail and pride in your work is really important in this role to create a safe, welcoming environment that truly feels like home. Every day I look forward to supporting the residents and my team. Talking to the residents is my favourite part of the day and it always motivates me to do all I can to make their day the best it can be.

Every day is different, but the best part is catching up with my team and being able to spend time with residents.

Outside of work, I enjoy reading and spending time with my family.
