Meet our friendly care team

The dedicated and experienced team at Harbour Manor provides your loved one with care that’s completely tailored to their individual needs and wishes.

Sarah Bacon

Home Manager

I have worked for Care UK since 2016 when I started as a carer and team leader.

I have always thrived on getting to know residents, encouraging colleagues and providing the highest levels of care.

In that time, I also completed my level five NVQ and became a dementia trainer, spending time at Worcester University. The training days were intense, but it is an area I feel passionate about and I was incredibly proud to be nominated Dementia Trainer of the Year. When I provide dementia training to others, I love being able to give them a new perspective on the condition.

I’ve been lucky to have had so many varied roles at Care UK, including Business Administrator, Senior Team Leader and Deputy Manager. Now, as Home Manager, I feel very lucky and I’m enjoying every day. I can honestly say that I have been supported by wonderful, encouraging leaders and feel privileged to be working alongside such great colleagues.

We all look forward to welcoming you to Harbour Manor.

Business Administrator

My career background is in banking, where I was previously a bank vice president. I also have an MBA, and several level five diplomas in health and social care, care management, and hospitality management.

My job is to take away all the complications so that colleagues can focus on providing excellent quality care. So being able to bring my finance and banking experience to help day-to-day operations run smoothly is a privilege. I was also a national finalist for the 2025 Care Sector’s Got Talent competition, which was such a lovely moment and a big highlight for me.

In this role, you need a giant heart with a genuine joy for lifting others up. It is important that everyone feels heard, valued and cared for so you need an authentic approachability and warmth.

My favourite part of the day are the moments of connection I make. Whether that’s reassuring a worried family member over a cup of tea, seeing a resident’s face light up or sharing a laugh with a colleague. We are here to create a home that feels like a real family, where everyone feels safe and comfortable. You’ll often hear me sing too, as I am also a professional singer and love nothing more than to fill the corridors with music and joy.

I spend my spare time with my family where music also plays a big part. I also cherish the time I spend mentoring and helping others grow.

Unit Manager

My career in care began in a very personal way when I started caring for my late grandad. The experience showed me how meaningful it is to support someone and be able to provide kindness, dignity and compassion. It inspired me to build a career where I could continue to make a positive difference to people’s lives.

I have now worked in care for over 14 years, in care homes and in the community, visiting people’s homes as a personal carer. I have always been passionate about providing person-centred care and making sure people feel respected and valued.

I believe that getting to know people as individuals is at the heart of great care, and one of the things I enjoy most is building relationships with residents, their families and colleagues. I’m always happy to listen, offer advice and provide support whenever a resident or family member needs someone to talk to. I’m a firm believer that sometimes a cup of tea, a conversation and a little bit of laughter can make all the difference.

I want Harbour Manor to be somewhere that people feel they belong, rather than somewhere they just live. Fundamentally, this is someone’s home, and we should treat it as such.

Outside of work, I’m a proud mum to three grown-up children. I also run a successful majorette troupe in Felixstowe. We take part in regional and national competitions and support local events. We have also been lucky enough to take part in some fantastic events including the Scotland Tattoo and London’s New Year’s Day Parade. Majorettes is a big part of my life, so you’ll often see me twirling something I’ve found or dancing in the corridors. When I’m not busy with majorettes, I spend my time with my family.

Carers

Our hardworking teams always keep individuals and their families at the heart of the care they provide. We work with you to shape the care your loved one receives, the food they’re served, the activities and experiences they want to do – even the ways they prefer to keep in touch with their friends and family.

Nurses

The nurses at Care UK are highly skilled and receive sector-leading training, which enables them to keep developing expertise in different clinical fields from dementia to palliative care.

Lifestyle

Our dedicated lifestyle teams work hard to organise a range of activities and events at our home. From gardening and baking to quizzes, music sessions and even live entertainment. Above all, we get to know your loved one to make sure our activities are tailored to suit their interests and hobbies.

Home support roles

From catering to maintenance, housekeeping to administration, our home support teams play a crucial part in ensuring individuals enjoy an exceptional and safe service every day.

All our teams get to know each person they care for to ensure they provide a service that’s designed around their unique needs and tastes.

Infection control

Every colleague receives training in infection prevention and control as part of their induction and updates regularly through online and in-person learning. Our dedicated IPC Champions in each home help embed safe working practices and raise awareness of hygiene standards.
