Jacqueline Johnson

Home Manager

Jacqueline Johnson

My approach as a Home manager centres on honesty and integrity, consistently displaying empathy, compassion, and respect toward every resident and colleague.

Leading by example and fostering trusting working relationships are fundamental to my leadership style.

Clear communication with a listening ear is vital; this creates a positive workplace culture where team members feel safe to speak openly. This openness strengthens our team’s ability to provide excellent care to our residents. In turn, my team supports and takes care of me, creating a harmonious and caring environment for everyone involved.

My favourite part of the working day is spending time with our residents and team, sharing ideas, finding solutions, and learning more about each other. It’s the connection and togetherness that truly energises me. And at the end of the day, I look forward to going home to my family, feeling fulfilled by the meaningful work we’ve done together.

My biggest career highlight to date is the personal fulfilment I get from helping someone maintain their independence. Seeing our residents comfortable, smiling, and happy is truly rewarding. Hearing positive feedback from residents and their families not only motivates me but also allows me to share these moments.

What makes me proud in my role is when the Home achieves a good CQC rating, receives positive feedback, and enjoys strong support from families. These achievements inspire me to continue supporting my team in delivering excellent care every day.

Deputy Manager

I only joined Care UK, and Heavers Court, in 2018, but I wanted to work here as its a prestigious care home, and I was keen to expand my experience of caring for older people as part of a well-regarded company.

Im proud of the care we provide at Heavers Court – not long after I joined we received a ‘good rating from the Care Quality Commission. This highlighted how we treat the people we care for with respect and dignity, supporting them to make decisions about all aspects of their care and to live as independently as possible.

The best part of the day is when I get to interact with residents and colleagues. Residents are at the heart of what we do, and any time spent learning more about them is time well spent.

Business Administrator

I joined Care UK and Heavers Court in 2012. I worked as a banker for 16 years, so this is quite a different setting. We’re a strong team at Heavers Court and there’s a great team spirit and family atmosphere here in the home. It helps that we’re led by an excellent manager, who is approachable and very understanding.

There are lots of computer systems to learn in this role, from the one that records residents’ care, to the payroll and HR systems. But it’s also important to be good with people face-to-face and on the phone, and to be approachable for families, residents and colleagues alike.

Outside of work I like to spend time with my family, watching films, having dinners and enjoying outings – including shopping.

Our experienced teams

Every day Care UK colleagues live our values of passionate, caring and teamwork to empower residents to enjoy fulfilling lives.

Carers

Our hardworking teams always keep individuals and their families at the heart of the care they provide. We work with you to shape the care your loved one receives, the food they’re served, the activities and experiences they want to do – even the ways they prefer to keep in touch with their friends and family.

Nurses

The nurses at Care UK are highly skilled and receive sector-leading training, which enables them to keep developing expertise in different clinical fields from dementia to palliative care.

Lifestyle

Our dedicated lifestyle teams work hard to organise a range of activities and events at our home. From gardening and baking to quizzes, music sessions and even live entertainment. Above all, we get to know your loved one to make sure our activities are tailored to suit their interests and hobbies.

Home support roles

From catering to maintenance, housekeeping to administration, our home support teams play a crucial part in ensuring individuals enjoy an exceptional and safe service every day.

All our teams get to know each person they care for to ensure they provide a service that’s designed around their unique needs and tastes.

Infection control

Every colleague receives training in infection prevention and control as part of their induction and updates regularly through online and in-person learning. Our dedicated IPC Champions in each home help embed safe working practices and raise awareness of hygiene standards.
