It is the people who make our community a truly happy and caring one. At Llys Cyncoed, our experienced team of dedicated professionals, all of whom undergo our own in-depth training programme. The whole team works to make sure that individuals needs are at the heart of everything they do and that personalised care is provided.

I joined the community after working in the healthcare sector for the last nine years and leading teams in the care sector for the last five years.

I am very proud to be working with such a professional team. I am happy that I am able to empower my colleagues to make a difference to people's lives by preserving dignity and individuality, and treating everyone in our community with respect.

I joined the team in 2011 as a Care Assistant. I have been fortunate and grateful for the opportunities to progress to a Senior Care Assistant. Not only have I progressed, but I have had the opportunity to gain my Health and Social Care level 5 qualification whilst in my senior role. My role as Deputy Manager, is to oversee and ensure the highest quality of individualised care, and to ensure that our team members deliver care with compassion and respect. I’m looking forward to the new challenges ahead and continuing my Journey to support individuals, team members and families here at Llys Cyncoed.

Lis May
Director of Community Relations

In my role I meet with prospective residents and their families to understand their unique circumstances so I can help them with their journey of finding the right care. Together we then create a package of care which is tailored to every resident as an individual, and I provide support to both the resident and their families with the move.  I have been in this role for the past 10 years and have had the pleasure of meeting so many families and seeing the positive outcomes of a move to our care home.

In my spare time I enjoy taking my chocolate Labrador for walks – she can’t do as much any longer as she has arthritis. I love going to the theatre and eating out with friends and family. I would say that seeing the residents joining in with the wide range of activities and the daily social at 3pm are the highlights of my day.

Reminiscence Coordinator

As Reminiscence Coordinator I am privileged to be able to assist people living with dementia on a daily basis . I have been working in the reminiscence neighbourhood at Llys Cyncoed for six years, and was part of the Cardiff team that won the Best Dementia Team at the Dementia Awards in 2014. It is great to work with such a loving team and really strive to provide excellent person-centred care and really promote the ethos of seeing the person not the dementia. As a team we really believe that we are able to make a difference and provide a high quality of life for all.

Nurses

The nurses at Care UK are highly skilled and receive sector-leading training, which enables them to keep developing expertise in different clinical fields from dementia to palliative care.

Lifestyle

Our dedicated lifestyle teams work hard to organise a range of activities and events at our home. From gardening and baking to quizzes, music sessions and even live entertainment. Above all, we get to know your loved one to make sure our activities are tailored to suit their interests and hobbies.

Home support roles

From catering to maintenance, housekeeping to administration, our home support teams play a crucial part in ensuring individuals enjoy an exceptional and safe service every day.

All our teams get to know each person they care for to ensure they provide a service that’s designed around their unique needs and tastes. 

Infection control

Each of our homes have a trained Infection Control and Prevention Champion – they are responsible for carrying out daily infection control audit and ensuring cleaning protocols are meticulously applied.
