Mercia Grange has treated its male residents to a special pamper day.
The team at Mercia Grange invited dementia-friendly Birmingham barber, Tom Roberts, to take over the care home’s salon for the day.
Tom offered cuts, trims and shaves to the men living at the home, while residents were able to listen to old vinyl favourites. Afterwards, residents settled down with beers and nibbles in the home’s café.
As a surprise for the residents, Tom has also donated one of his barber chairs to the home’s hairdressing salon, and will be returning regularly to offer pamper treatments.
Home manager at Mercia Grange, Shirley Gibbs, said: “Here at Mercia Grange, we wanted to take time to treat our male residents to a day of pampering.
“All the residents had a brilliant day and are all looking very sharp! I’d like to thank Tom for helping us celebrate, making our residents who are living with dementia feel at ease, and for his generous donation of the barber’s chair – we look forward to welcoming him back soon.”
