My passion has always been to help people and work in the community. When I saw this role, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to continue to work with people and help them. In this role you need to be passionate about helping others, often at a very difficult time in their lives. You also need to take the time to listen to what they’re experiencing.
My previous role involved organising big sporting events in the community, so I’m looking forward to using my skills to organise events for the home and to start making the home the hub of the community.
Before working at Care UK I was a head chef and head pastry chef working at large luxury hotels and gastro pubs. I joined the organisation in 2017 because I wanted to use my passion for food and service to help Care UK change perceptions about food in care homes. I want to make a difference to residents’ lives in how they enjoy – and get the most benefit from – food.
I enjoy lunchtimes and serving the residents their lunch. I like to learn more about their lives and experiences. I’m enjoying seeing this new home grow and develop as we welcome new residents, and I’m looking forward to pushing what we do in terms of food even further to grow our reputation in the wider area.
I decided to have a complete career change and went from selling diamonds in a jewellery shop to leading activities for residents at Pear Tree Court. I really enjoy interacting with people we provide care for, which is why I have been with Care UK since 2005.
My position requires a lot of forward planning, understanding individual needs and being approachable. I love being open minded about introducing new ideas whilst always having fun in the home. It is important to involve the local community and allow Pear Tree Court to be a space for everyone to enjoy.
I’m an engineer with nearly 30 years’ experience in the medical and care sectors. One of my previous roles involved designing, project managing and commissioning digital operating theatres in the private healthcare sector.
I joined the Pear Tree Court team in early 2018. This role appealed to me for the variety of tasks involved day-to-day, and for the opportunity to achieve great job satisfaction.
In this role, it’s useful to have a well-rounded knowledge of facilities management, construction and of the equipment that’s typically used in care homes. There’s a great team here at Pear Tree Court, and I feel that my contribution does bring value to them, to Care UK and, above all, to the residents. It’s great seeing residents’ smiles of appreciation when I’ve taken care of something that matters to them.
I used to work in domiciliary care, and I joined the Pear Tree Court team in early 2018 as Receptionist. It was great to be promoted to the Business Administrator role – it’s an extremely busy job and one that makes the most of my organisational skills and care background. It’s always important to have patience and empathy in this role, and consider what families and their older loved one may be going through.
I enjoy working as part of the bigger Pear Tree Court team, supporting residents and their families and helping everything to run smoothly.
In my spare time I enjoy walking and playing golf, as well as eating out and catching the latest movies.
