Lisa Tungate

Home Manager

Lisa Tungate

As Home Manager, one of the most important parts of my role is providing a safe and comfortable environment that residents truly feel is home.

I believe strong leadership, effective communication, resilience, and compassion are essential in this role. We all work incredibly hard to ensure every resident receives the very highest standards of care.

Every day is different, but I enjoy challenges and finding creative solutions to problems. One of the highlights of my role is seeing the special moments the team helps create, whether through celebration events or activities that everyone can enjoy. It is these moments, where you see genuine smiles and joy, that really reinforce why we do what we do.

I am always proud to see the positive impact we have on people’s daily lives, and it is a privilege that families trust us to care for their loved ones.

Outside of work, I enjoy crafts, walking, and spending time with family and friends.

Activity Lead
I have over 40 years of experience working in care and have held several roles over that time, from Care Assistant, Unit Manager and now Activity Lead.

I love my current role as I get to spend a lot of time with residents and enjoy their company.

A big part of my job is to plan and organise events, decorating rooms for parties and celebrations and interacting with residents and their families. With that in mind, you need to be energetic, creative and full of life. Having a sense of humour helps a lot too.

It is rewarding when residents take part in activities. Seeing big smiles and hearing laughter always makes the day brighter.

In my spare time, I enjoy going on holiday and being with my children and grandchildren. I also like to socialise and meet up regularly with friends.

Care Manager
I have a level five diploma in leadership and management, and I was previously a Unit Manager.

A big career highlight for me was being part of a team responsible for commissioning and opening a new home, because you see everything from the ground up.

Working in care means you need to be compassionate and approachable. As Care Manager, you also need to be a confident leader.

This role is genuinely rewarding, knowing that we are making a positive difference to the residents we care for and ensuring they feel safe, valued and heard. We provide a high standard of person-centred care and residents are always at the heart of what we do.

I would say the best part of the day for me, is the time I spend with residents. Taking the time to have a chat and see how they are, always brightens my day.

I spend my free time with family and friends. I also enjoy crocheting to relax.

Front of House Manager
Before my current role, I was Lifestyle Manager; I have also had dementia training.

As Front of House Manager, you need to have good communication skills, patience and empathy. I’m often the first person that visitors see when they step through our doors, so you also need to be welcoming and helpful. I like to think my motto is ‘creating a lasting first impression’.

The best part of the job for me, is being able to meet new people, as well as making sure residents are happy. We also have a lovely team here and I feel lucky to be part of it.

When I am not working, I like to socialise and spend time with my children.

Head Housekeeper
The best part of the day for me is seeing Samuel House clean and fresh.

Cleaning to a high standard is always rewarding and helps everyone feel comfortable. I also enjoy the chance to chat with residents and their families.

In this role, it is important to have good time keeping skills and to make sure that rooms and communal areas are cleaned efficiently. You also need to have awareness of COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health), which also means organising all the products correctly.

Outside of work, I enjoy bike riding, football and socialising with friends.
