My approach as a Home Manager centres on honesty and integrity, while consistently showing empathy, compassion, and respect towards every resident and colleague. Leading by example and building trusting relationships are fundamental to my leadership style.

Clear communication and a willingness to listen are vital in creating a positive workplace culture where colleagues feel safe and confident to speak openly. This strengthens our ability as a team to provide excellent care for our residents. In turn, my team supports me, helping to create a harmonious and caring environment for everyone.

My favourite part of the working day is spending time with residents and colleagues, sharing ideas, finding solutions, and learning more about each other. It is the connection and togetherness that truly energises me. At the end of the day, I look forward to going home to my family, feeling fulfilled by the meaningful work we have done together.

One of my biggest career highlights is the personal fulfilment I gain from helping someone maintain their independence. Seeing residents comfortable, smiling, and happy is truly rewarding. Hearing positive feedback from residents and their families motivates me and gives me the opportunity to share these achievements with my team.

I am proud when our home achieves a good CQC rating, receives positive feedback, and has strong support from families. These achievements inspire me to continue supporting my team in delivering excellent care every day.

I am an experienced team leader in the care industry, having worked at Smallbrook for a number of years.

I am incredibly proud to have reached the role of Deputy Manager.

As deputy manager at Smallbrook, I need to have strong leadership and teamwork skills, as well as patience and compassion for families, residents and our team. Each day I try to lead by example and am proud to support and encourage my colleagues.

It is very rewarding to know that through my role I can make a positive difference to someone’s day.

Alongside caring for the team, the most important part of my role is ensuring that the residents feel safe, respected and well looked after.

I am an experienced healthcare professional, always looking to continue to learn and grow.

I was excited to join Care UK, as I was aware of the company's reputation for structured career progression, apprenticeships and continued learning.

Working as a Care Assistant requires compassion, empathy and emotional resilience. I strive to always show good leadership and guidance for the team. Getting to collaborate with a supportive care team is one of my favourite aspects of my role.

We work hard as a team in ensuring high standards of personalised care for all residents as well as helping family members each day.

I was excited to join Care UK, as I had heard about their approach to personalised care.

As a Care Assistant my main priority is helping people meet their needs. The most important part of the role is ensuring safety whilst providing high-quality care tailored to each individual.

It is important to have compassion and empathy, listening to people's problems and finding the best way to help them.

I enjoy being busy each day and having the opportunity to interact with residents.

The nurses at Care UK are highly skilled and receive sector-leading training, which enables them to keep developing expertise in different clinical fields from dementia to palliative care.

Lifestyle

Our dedicated lifestyle teams work hard to organise a range of activities and events at our home. From gardening and baking to quizzes, music sessions and even live entertainment. Above all, we get to know your loved one to make sure our activities are tailored to suit their interests and hobbies.

Home support roles

From catering to maintenance, housekeeping to administration, our home support teams play a crucial part in ensuring individuals enjoy an exceptional and safe service every day.

All our teams get to know each person they care for to ensure they provide a service that’s designed around their unique needs and tastes. 

Infection control

Every colleague receives training in infection prevention and control as part of their induction and updates regularly through online and in-person learning. Our dedicated IPC Champions in each home help embed safe working practices and raise awareness of hygiene standards.
