A nationwide celebration of the flavours, stories and experiences behind dining at Care UK
As festival season gets under way, Care UK communities across the nation are joining the celebrations – with a tantalising twist.
This summer, we’re opening our doors and inviting communities to discover what life is really like in a Care UK home with our new initiative, ‘A Taste of Home’.
Food has a unique ability to bring people together. A favourite dish can spark memories, start conversations and instantly make us feel at home. For many residents, food is tied to family traditions, cultural heritage and the simple joy of sharing a meal with loved ones.
From 6th-9th August, over 200 Care UK homes across the UK will host a food festival, celebrating our shared love of great food, community and connection. Each home will be welcoming families, friends and local communities for a series of fun-filled foodie events featuring games, entertainment and something for everyone to enjoy.
The events will showcase sustainability and the diversity and creativity within our homes, from residents’ favourite recipes and traditional dishes to seasonal menus using locally sourced ingredients.
Across the country, homes will be putting their own unique spin on the celebrations. At Murrayside in Edinburgh, the team is transforming the garden and inviting communities to sample cuisines from around the world using local ingredients. Over in the Midlands, at Foxland Grange in Wolverhampton, residents will be showcasing their favourite childhood recipes for guests to enjoy.
Heading south, at Darlington Court in Rustington, the team will be cooking up traditional dishes from their cultures. Guests will also be invited to take part in an upcycling challenge, bringing along an item to transform into something new and creative.
