The aim of the service is to support and enable people to remain in their own homes whilst also providing respite for carers and families. The Night care element of the service centre will offer support for dementia sufferers and their carers from 5pm to 9am which most traditional homecare and day care services do not.
Care UK's Lin Ferg, who initiated the development of the centre, said "This new concept will be a welcome relief for those who care for someone with dementia, especially if they are prone to wandering at night. They will be able to place the dementia sufferer at the centre overnight knowing that they will receive the best possible care and be able to be collected the next morning fully dressed and having washed and eaten breakfast, allowing the carer to get a good nights rest."
The centre which is planned to open in early 2006, will operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and will provide meals, bathing services and activities as well as hairdressing, chiropody, dentistry and optician services.
Care UK Development Director Richard Pearman commented "We are grateful to the local Rotary Club for their contribution to the establishment of this badly needed service and hope that the innovation shown here can lead to similar projects elsewhere which will help to ease the burden of Carers".
We are happy to arrange interviews with a range of experts, commentary on industry issues and site visits for filming, photography or sound recording. Please get in touch with your requirements and we will do our best to arrange a suitable response.
