Contract signed on a comprehensive musculoskeletal service for Lincolnshire

Company news

The service will offer a Clinical Assessment and Treatment Service (CATS) for a range of musculoskeletal conditions such as sports injuries or back, joint and ligament pain for example.  Clinics operated by Care UK will be established in Lincoln, Louth, Gainsborough, Skegness, Grantham, Sleaford, Bourne, Boston and Spalding.

Patients will be referred through their GP and will be seen by a consultant led team of physiotherapists, usually within 14 days of the initial referral.  Patients will be able to choose the clinic which is closest to them or at a time which is most convenient for them.  Diagnostic facilities will also be available at the three central clinics in Lincoln, Louth and Spalding and will include MRI, X-Ray and Ultrasound.

Jim Heys, Deputy Director of Strategic Planning, NHS Lincolnshire said:

“By introducing this innovative service across Lincolnshire, which was designed by Practice Based Commissioning Clusters, we are confident that patients will benefit from faster diagnosis and treatment.  With strong links with existing services and facilities, more patients will receive appropriate and timely onward care for musculoskeletal conditions.”

Mark Hunt, Managing Director of Care UK Health Care Services said:

“Care UK is very excited to be working with NHS Lincolnshire to provide this new and innovative service.  This service is designed around the patient-centred remit developed within the local healthcare community.  Intended to provide improved patient care, the service affords the patient prompt and convenient access to treatment across Lincolnshire, in modern and comfortable surroundings.”
