Patients give top marks to Barlborough NHS Treatment Centre

Company news

Barlborough NHS Treatment Centre, run by Care UK on behalf of the NHS, has received another excellent satisfaction survey from its patients and has again consistently matched or outperformed the top 20 per cent of all acute NHS trusts in the UK.

Key findings of the patient survey results (550 patients were selected from Barlborough NHS Treatment Centre to take part), which represent mean rating scores (maximum 100), include:

  • A score of 98 for patients saying they were always treated with dignity and respect (Top 20% of NHS Trusts, 90)
  • A score of 96 for patients always having confidence and trust in nurses (Top 20% of NHS Trusts, 89)
  • A score of 95 for patients always having confidence and trust in doctors (Top 20% of NHS Trusts, 91)
  • A score of 99 for patients thinking the Treatment Centre was clean (Top 20% of NHS Trusts, 88)

Comments from patients included: “Everyone was very friendly.  This was my second stay and both times they were lovely.  From the cleaning staff to the top doctors, I cannot fault them in any way and would like to thank them all”; “Clean and organised, well run facility with friendly helpful staff”; “Everything about my care was excellent.”

One patient who enjoyed a positive visit to the Centre is Melody Austin of Derby.  A retired Day Services Manager, she initially had trouble with her right knee and had physiotherapy provided by her local GP surgery, but then her left knee began to give her pain and discomfort and it was decided that it required treatment first.  It was her physiotherapist who said that she’d like Melody to have her surgery at Barlborough NHS Treatment Centre and she had her left knee replaced in January 2010.   Following the surgery, she is now looking forward to being able to go out walking with her husband and she is going to take up salsa dancing classes too.

Melody said: “I was absolutely terrified about going into hospital, but I needn’t have been.  All the staff from the cleaners to surgeons were all happy and positive which really makes a difference.  My anaesthetist was a darling.”

Graeme Kendall, General Manager at the Barlborough NHS Treatment Centre said: “Once again, patients such as Mrs Austin are telling us that they appreciate the quality and level of care they have received at the Centre. My thanks go to our patients for providing such valuable feedback, and to members of staff at Barlborough NHS Treatment Centre who have provided such excellent care and service. Patients can now access treatment here via Choose and Book, and they can get more information about this from their GP.”
