Visitors who have been told by their doctor that they might need such an operation, will be able to chat to staff and examine hip and knee replacement prostheses. It’s also a great opportunity to find out more about what this popular hospital can offer NHS patients.
The hospital, which carries out almost one in five of the hip and knee replacement operations in the East Midlands and South Yorkshire region, has a high number of former patients from the Lincolnshire area. Hospital staff looking after the stand are hoping that they will also meet some of the 4000 former patients who have recently shown their support – a factor in helping to seal the hospital’s future for the next 25 years. Items such as pens, mugs and coasters, along with literature, will be given out to visitors on the day.
Graeme Kendall, Manager at Care UK’s Barlborough NHS Treatment Centre said: “The Falls Awareness event will be a great way of meeting and informing people who may need treatment. Visitors can find out about the range of other procedures that we offer, for example carpel tunnel and shoulder surgery. My staff are a very big asset and they are looking forward to meeting new faces at the event. People who have been told that they need a joint replacement often put off the operation for many months or even years, during this period I believe that people are more at risk of falls. I we hope we can help prevent injuries in the future by reassuring people what a visit to Barlborough will entail so that they go ahead and take the plunge.”
Run by an independent company with an impressive track record in patient care and clinical success, on behalf of the NHS for NHS patients only, the Centre provides day care and inpatient orthopaedic surgery for patients from Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, South Yorkshire and Lincolnshire. It prides itself on providing the best patient care at its unique facility in friendly and comfortable surroundings. The Centre prides itself on its extremely low infection rates and has never had a case of hospital acquired MRSA or C.difficile.
The Centre, is situated less than one mile from Junction 30 of the M1 which makes it very accessible and the parking is free.
