New Manager appointed to North East London NHS Treatment Centre

Paul Attwal has been appointed as the new manager of the Care UK run North East London NHS Treatment Centre at King George Hospital, Ilford. He succeeds Fasie Smith, who has returned to his native South Africa.

Paul Attwal joined the Treatment Centre on 1 December from Newham University Hospital NHS Trust, where he has been Assistant Director, Strategy and Head of Business Development. Previously he held positions within the NHS at Great Ormond Street Hospital and Guys & St Thomas’ Foundation NHS Trust.

The North East London NHS Treatment Centre opened almost four years ago and provides high-quality specialist day case surgery and in-patient surgery in Orthopaedics, General Surgery, Ophthalmology and Oral Surgery. More than 26,500 procedures have been carried out and the Centre enjoys high levels of patient satisfaction. It has had no cases of MRSA or C difficile.

Paul Attwal said: “This marks a return for me to a direct managing role. I am very much looking forward to leading the committed team at the Treatment Centre.

“The North East London Treatment Centre has had a very real impact on healthcare provision since it opened in December 2006. I am passionate about delivering a top class service to patients and I look forward to continuing the fine work of my predecessors as we move into the fifth year of our contract here. I aim to continue the high quality service and maintain efficiency and effectiveness in the delivery of healthcare for north east London.”
