Oak House Royal street party

Home news

Oak House staged its Royal Wedding celebrations by holding an old fashioned street party in the outer grounds of the car park at the front of the home.

The car park was closed off and tables and chairs were placed down the middle of the road.

The theme of our party was red, white & blue with Union Jack buntings (with Kate & William on),flags, plates, blowers & party poppers.

Our local parish council got involved by kindly lending us tables and chairs for the event and our local Tesco donated refreshments.

The whole event brought back precious memories for all our residents as we downloaded war time classic songs from the internet for them to sing, dance & enjoy the day.

Also our menu brought back memories with a classic buffet of foods from the days of rationing with a modern twist of the classic sausage rolls & sandwiches followed by a traditional Victoria sponge. Staff  wore traditional clothing to keep up the theme.

Residents watched the royal wedding on our Windsor unit on the ground floor and toasted the bride and groom with an Oak House cocktail called The Honeymoon which included pineapple/orange juice, grenadine & blue curacao.
