New admin units go live

Company news

The Greater Manchester CATS service has added two administration units to the CATS’ fleet of mobile units as part of a far-reaching development of the service.

Following feedback from GP’s and patients, we have introduced two new admin units to the service, one for each of our main units.

The new admin units have helped the service with the following developments:

  1.  We saw an opportunity to improve processes and ensure an even faster turnaround of discharge oronward referral letters, with the majority now being sent within 24 hours of the patient attending a consultation. This gives referring GPs even faster access to information to assist them in their patients’ care.
  2. We have reorganised the clinic schedules to reduce the administrative burden on CATS’ Consultants, whilst also giving ‘face to face’ time with the admin team at the end of the clinics to solve queries on a ‘same day’ basis.
  3. We can now offer additional appointments at all locations due to the more efficient use of consultant time, turning what was admin time into more clinical time in front of the patients.

Kate Crewdson, General Manager, CATS, said, “This is a really exciting development to the CATS service, improving availability of appointments for patients and providing an efficient service to our referrers. The developments represent a significant financial investment into the service, and demonstrate our commitment to providing a first class service to Greater Manchester patients and GP’s. We value all feedback we receive about the CATS service and will act on recommendations and suggestions of how we might improve.”

“As a result of these changes, we’ve not only increased the number of appointments available but can now provide an even faster turnaround of discharge or onward referral letters - helping improve the service for our patients and referring GP’s alike.”
