Treatment Centre voted among top in country

Barlborough NHS Treatment Centre has been rated among the best in the country according to the views of patients.

Independently run by Care UK on behalf of the NHS, the treatment centre scored 97 points out of 100 for the levels of respect and dignity patients received from the team of staff and doctors. This was higher than the average score for the top 20 per cent of hospitals in the country – which worked out at 90 points.

The independent survey, carried out for the Department of Health, asked patients to rate all aspects of their hospital experience including cleanliness, quality of food and the level of care received.

99 per cent of patients at Barlborough NHS Treatment Centre also said they would recommend the centre to a friend.

Graeme Kendall, service manager, said: “This is fantastic news for the treatment centre and for people in the Chesterfield and East Midlands area.

“To get such positive feedback from the patients themselves is a real testament to the outstanding levels of care and services we provide to our NHS patients.

“The staff are very proud of their service and it’s always good to hear that patients value our services highly.”

Geoff Foster, 76, from Retford, visited Barlborough NHS Treatment Centre for a knee replacement when everyday activities such as taking his dog for a walk became a struggle.

Geoff said: “I couldn’t believe that after just four days in hospital, the original pain and discomfort from my knee had finally gone.  Everyone from the doctors and nurses to the ladies that served my meals looked after me so well and the care was excellent. I’m now able to go walking with the dog again and I’ve even returned to cycling. ”
