Cakes, tee-shirts and spots – Residents raised money for children in need

Home news

Whitby Dene residents are always keen to help charities with fundraising activities as they recently proved with their day of activity for Children in Need.

Residents made and decorated 50 cakes and sold them to staff, relatives and visitors to the home. Activities co-ordinator Mark Winter said: “They had a great time baking and decorating. They used lots of coloured sugar balls and hundreds and thousands to create really colourful and very tasty treats which sold, well like hot cakes!”

The residents also let loose their creative side on designing fundraising tee-shirts. Mark said: “We gave people white shirts and special colourfast pens and they came up with some wonderful designs. It was great to see them enjoying this new and exciting activity.”

And, in the spirit of Pudsey, everyone in the home dressed for the day in their best spotty clothes. Mark said: “It was a very happy and colourful day and we managed to raise £50 for a very good cause.”
