Riverside writers scoop a prize

Home news

Residents families and staff from Riverside collaborated on a “chain story” which scooped a £125 runners up prize in the Care UK short story competition held to mark World Book Day.

Dozens of people had a hand in the story which was started off by one person who wrote a line then handed it on to the next to write the next line and so on.

The end result was a story called Arthur and Mary’s Day Trip which had three possible endings.

An illustration for the story was created residents, relatives and staff using a wide range of craft materials and techniques.

Riverside Manager Beverley Taylor said:” We are absolutely thrilled to have won a prize. It is a real boost. The story was the idea of our ingenious activity girls Nicola and Holly and everyone had a great time taking part.

“The money will be spent on moving our team room into the conservatory where we will be able to get much better use of it.”
