Colourful Jubilee weekend at Catherine Court

Home news

Jubilee preparations at Catherine Court began the week before with the decorating of our home and court yard to get us all in the mood for the big event.

Our art therapist, Lynn, made colourful decorations with residents - the art group painted bunting flags and crowns, which our activities department laminated.

Jubilee activities started with a special visit from our local Music for Health representatives who ran a special royal jubilee session to set the scene for the weekend.

Our main event will took place on Sunday 3rd June 2012 when we took part in The Big Lunch   (www.thebiglunch.com.)  an annual event that started in 2007 to help bring communities together.

We started the day by serving our special Royal Champagne Cocktails with snacks at around 10.30am in our lounges and cinema. The TV was on throughout the day, so that we could follow the events taking place around the country.

Later we tucked into a grand buffet lunch which was served in both dining rooms and we also borrowed some extra tables and chairs from our local community centre to have outside in the court yard, so that people can enjoy their food outdoors if they wished.

Music was provided by Catherine Court favourite, singer Nik Stoter who has starred in many West End theatre productions.

This was followed by a royal afternoon cream tea for residents, friends and staff which rounded off the celebrations.
