The Maplestead team will be celebrating National Carers Week by inviting friends and relatives, who care for people with dementia in the Halstead area, to drop in to the Day Centre in Dame Mary Walk for a cup of tea and a chat between 4-7pm on Tuesday 19th June.
Catherine said: “Caring for a loved one with dementia is both challenging and rewarding. It helps to be able to talk to people who have similar experience and share ideas as well as having a good talk and a laugh.
“We will have information on hand from dementia charities and organisations that may also be of help, as carers often have their own jobs and families and they can find it difficult to have the time to seek out helpful information.”
Talking about the club, which shares a site with Care UK’s new Colne View nursing home, Catherine said: “At Maplestead day club, we offer a warm friendly environment where friends old and new can chat over tea, coffee and biscuits, join in our many stimulating activities and feel at ease in our relaxed, informal atmosphere.
“We are open seven days a week from 8am until 8pm and the team, who are all specially trained in dementia care, tailor the service to suit individual requirements in order to provide as little or as much support as each person requires. That way we know our guests are getting the very best out of their time with us and their carers can relax in the knowledge that their friend or loved one is happy, comfortable and most importantly, in safe hands.”
We are happy to arrange interviews with a range of experts, commentary on industry issues and site visits for filming, photography or sound recording. Please get in touch with your requirements and we will do our best to arrange a suitable response.
