Our singing lifts the rafters at the Jarrow Community Centre

Home news

Everyone was in fine voice for our visit to see the ever popular musical Me and My Girl at the Jarrow Community Centre recently.

Eight residents, accompanied by manager Louise Damms and other team members, went to see the timeless musical set in Hampshire and Lambeth in the 1930s.

Louise said: “Everyone had a great time. They joined in with Me and My Girl and the Lambeth Walk and at one point they were even dancing in the aisles!”

Theatre trips are always popular with residents and Louise says that musicals top their list of favourite visits. She said: “Everyone enjoys a trip to the theatre and they love to sing along. It is great for our residents with dementia as it unlocks so many happy memories as they join in with the fun.”

The next trip to the theatre will be a very popular trip to see the annual pantomime which this year is Dick Whittington. Oh yes, it is!
