Seaside and barbecue – the great British summer comes to The Burroughs

Home news

We enjoyed the best of the British summer on Saturday as we held our summer event for friends and family and supported Macmillan Cancer Support, a charity close to all our hearts.

The sun shone down on us as we enjoyed a wonderful barbecue prepared by the kitchen team and there was a raffle and tombola to raise funds for our chosen charity.

Michael Krasser, customer relations manager, said: “We settled on the seaside theme as it was a popular choice with residents. In front of a back drop of a beach and sky we created our own beach with half a ton of sand, complete with sand castles, flags, buckets and spades, inflatable palm trees and a duck pond.

“Around 100 residents and their visitors joined in the fun and entertainer Leslie Chaffe soon had us up for a dance or two. Everyone agreed it was a fun family day and a wonderful way to celebrate summer.”

With an additional donation from Care UK the event raised £161.71 for MacMillan Cancer Support

Michael said; “By the time the barbecue came to an end, a good time was had by everyone and a few exhausted dancers soon settled down for tea and a good night’s sleep!”
