We put on the kettle and put our best foot forward for tea dance fun

Home news

On Thursday 25th July we held a 1950’s cream tea which involved all of our residents favourite things – music, tea and cake!

The team dressed up in 1950s aprons and headbands made by our Activities Coordinator Lola. Care UK’s preferred supplier PG Tips kindly provided us with a selection of six different flavoured teas and a CD of 1950s music.

Residents and guests enjoyed a tempting selection of treats including the traditional cucumber and smoked salmon and cream cheese sandwiches, scones and an assortment of delicious cakes. While we ate, singer Martyn Hasley entertained us with some great songs from the era with the favourite being Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong.

We had a great turn out and were joined by relatives and friends as well as Councillor Dominic Gilham. Even the Queen managed to tear herself away from her new Great Grandson for the afternoon! The residents were delighted with the lifesize cardboard cut out of our majesty and everyone wanted to have their photo taken with  her!
