Beth’s silence raises £200

Company news

Crabbe Street care home and wellbeing centre in Ipswich recently became a quieter place as Beth Roberts, a domestic assistant at the wellbeing centre, gave up her voice in a two day sponsored silence.

Beth, with the support of her colleagues, raised over £200 to be split equally between Crabbe Street’s residential and wellbeing centre customers. The money raised will be put towards future outings, activities and events.

Yvonne Kane, Crabbe Street wellbeing centre manager, said: “Beth is a very enthusiastic and generous person who is always willing to help others and support the wellbeing centre and residential home. We would like to thank Beth very much for taking the time to do this.”

Crabbe Street wellbeing centre provides day care activities and clubs for older members of the community who are still living in their own homes, but may require assistance during the day. The Care UK team at the centre help older people maintain independence for longer and give family carers a period of respite. Currently across Suffolk Care UK is investing £60 million into a development programme for 10 new care homes, each with purpose-built wellbeing centres on site. Construction is about to start on a new care home and wellbeing centre at Alnesbourn Crescent in the Ravenswood area of Ipswich which residents and customers of the day care centre at Crabbe Street will have the choice of from January 2015. After the new facilities open Crabbe Street will close. All residents and customers of the wellbeing centre are being kept informed and consulted about the changes.  For more information on the Suffolk development plan visit www.careuk.com/suffolk-new-homes or call 0333 321 0956.
