Colne View host a wedding

Home news

On Wednesday 20th November Colne View had the pleasure of hosting the wedding of Deborah and Walter Willings.

The couple, who have been partners for over 18 years, exchanged their vows in the Courtauld Lounge witnessed by two of their dearest friends, Angela and Doug Horrigan. Both couples have shared many happy occasions over the years, but this definitely topped the lot.

Sadly, Deborah was diagnosed with MS six years ago. Her increasing disability meant that she needed to be cared for full time. Walter and Deborah are devoted to each other, so when Walter proposed Deborah accepted without hesitation.

Staff at Colne View were overjoyed to be part of this unique celebration. Carers came in on their day off to assist to ensure that the bride had all the extra help she needed to prepare. This is the first wedding to take place at the home and hopefully not the last!

Customer Relationship Manager, Rosemary Waller presented the couple with a beautiful bouquet of flowers on behalf of all the staff and residents at Colne View. She said "What an honour it was to host such a special occasion at Colne View, everyone wishes the couple many congratulations on this happy day. We are all so fond of Deborah and Walter. Colne View is home for all our residents and as such we feel like a large family. How lovely it is to be able to make something like this happen."

Following the signing of the register, champagne corks were popped and the bride and groom enjoyed lunch with their friends. Their wedding cake was made in the shape of a never ending circle from a recipe which was given to them by an old friend many years ago.
