Framlingham care home celebrates the season with autumn-themed activities

Home news

Residents at Mills Meadow care home in Framlingham have been getting creative in a celebration of autumn, with collage making and traditional pumpkin carving.

The autumn celebrations have been as a result of the Artist Tree competition, run by Care UK to encourage homes and wellbeing centres to get creative and boost positivity around the autumn season. Mills Meadow residents and colleagues have their fingers crossed that their artistic efforts will win the competition and receive a cash prize for the home, which will be put towards residents’ future activities and outings.

Roz Ingate, activities coordinator at Mills Meadow, says: “The colder months can be a worrying and dismal time, particularly for older people, but the cheerful collages and great carved pumpkins have brightened the rooms here at Mills Meadow and have reminded everyone how wonderful the autumn months can be.”

Mills Meadow care home on Fore Street in Framlingham is due to undergo redevelopment as part of Care UK’s £60 million investment plan into 10 new care homes and 10 wellbeing centres across Suffolk. Construction of the new Mills Meadow care home, which will take place in two phases, is scheduled to begin in November, with phase one due for completion in summer 2015. The new home will provide residential as well as specialist nursing and dementia care, plus a new wellbeing centre providing day care and services for those still living in their own homes.
