Riverside receive prize for “Artist tree” competition

Home news

We are pleased to announce Riverside as the runners up of Care UK’s “Artist tree” competition. The Autumn competition, which stretched across all care homes and day centres, asked the homes to reflect the resources that nature provides to support activities and get creative.

As the competition was themed on trees, the home we created an Odd Sock Wish Tree, which is now displayed on their Nightingale unit and already filling up with wishes.

The idea of the wish tree came from one of the resident’s daughters. Many of the residents helped create the tree by decorating leaf templates which were then attached to branches we collected from the garden. Conkers and acorns were also found outside and used to decorate the tree.

Holly Wainwright, Activities Coordinator at Riverside said: “We are really pleased with the end result and have had great feedback from visitors and family. It is also lovely to read everyone’s wishes.”
