The Willows combines two British classics

Home news

Earlier this year we made the most of the great British summer, by hosting a fundraising event for the residents of The Willows. This was a fun filled event which saw residents, relatives, friends and staff all take part in an afternoon consisting of bingo and a pie and pea supper. Tickets were £2 each and any money raised went towards the resident’s fund.

The afternoon started with a pie and pea supper, cooked by the kitchen staff. This was followed by a game of bingo, hosted by a professional bingo caller who brought all the necessary equipment. There were lots of prizes on offer such as wine and chocolate that had all been donated by the staff, friends and relatives.  A girl who brings a sweet trolley round the home every fortnight came to the evening too and donated half of her takings to the residents fund.

The Willows Manager, Ruth Catton, looked back on the event and said:

“This was a lovely day, which was well attended. We had over 50 people attend including the residents, so it was a very nice and busy atmosphere. We were lucky with the weather, which meant everyone could sit outside in the garden”.

After the event it was announced that we raised £160 for the resident’s fund. The money raised will be used to take the residents to a local Christmas pantomime, Oliver, on Wednesday 27th November.
