Carer enjoy their special day at Little Holland care home

It was time to turn the tables, as people caring for loved ones in the local community enjoyed being pampered for the day at Care UK’s Little Holland Hall care home last Thursday (23rd January).

As well as coffee, cake and lunch, the carers were treated to free spa treatments, including manicures, pedicures and arm and hand massages.

Home manager Mike Parris said: “We were delighted that so many carers were able to attend the pamper day and bring their loved one with them to meet the team and enjoy a day out.

“The carers told us they really appreciated some time to relax and be spoilt. Caring for a loved one can be very tiring and leave little time for the carer to spend on themselves, so we were delighted to be able to offer this free fun day to these remarkable people, who give so much to caring for their loved ones.”

As well as the treatments, carers were given tours of the home and a chance to talk to the team. Mike said everyone was very impressed with the home and the team’s friendly and knowledgeable attitude.

The home is currently getting ready for February’s British Heart Foundation month where residents and the team will be raising funds within the home. Mike said: “We don’t mark Valentine’s Day, as many of our residents have lost loved ones. Instead, we decorate the home with hearts for this very worthwhile cause.

“We also have a golden heart tree, where residents can write a message to a loved one on a golden leaf that they then hang from the tree, which everyone finds beautiful and uplifting.”
