Valentine’s celebrations at Garland Road Day Centre

Valentine’s Day turned into a day of fun and cakes, when staff decided to celebrate the day in style.

Day centre staff dressed in red and used their baking and creative skills to make a variety of delicious cakes for the clients to enjoy with their cup of tea.

To add to the fun, a competition was held for the clients to try a piece of all the cakes on offer and choose their favourite.   The cakes were all given Valentine related names to make the judging easier, and ranged from heart-shaped chocolate love cakes to red velvet cakes and even cup cakes with a cupid’s arrow going through them!  A special gluten free cake was also made for one of the day care clients.

Most popular, and therefore the winning cakes were those made by Garland Road Day Centre Manager, Maureen Peach – called ‘Raspberry Jam Love Cakes’.

Valentine’s Day may have been a dreary wet and rainy day on the outside, but it certainly was a cheery, fun one inside the day centre!
