Care UK’s Blyford care home in Lowestoft has been given the seal of approval by a national care watchdog, with residents praising the care they receive and the kindness of the home’s team.
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspectors recently examined Blyford and interviewed team members, residents and relatives before announcing that the home now meets the Government’s five national standards of quality and safety, which are:
Residents told inspectors how much they appreciated the care they were given - one person said, “Staff here are brilliant, I can’t find fault” whilst another said “I don’t think you would find a better place”.
Residents’ choices and preferences are central to the care given, with their views taken into account at all stages. The inspectors were able to see how this is managed day to day, examining care and treatment plans and talking to team members and residents. Family members are also consulted during the consent process when necessary and formal records of consent kept.
Manager at Blyford, Marc Scott, said: “We have a dedicated team here at Blyford who work really hard to ensure that residents live happy and fulfilling lives and that a high standard of care is delivered. I am thrilled with the inspectors’ report and delighted that we meet the Government and the CQC’s standards of care.”
