Sue Atkins, Davers Club manager, said: “The home and day club were full of laughter and warmth, with everyone keen to get hands-on and join in the activities.
“Keeping active and sociable is really important when in your older years, especially for those living with dementia, as it can help to maintain independence and improve confidence. At the Davers Club we encourage people to keep up with their favourite hobbies whilst also arranging a variety of different activities, days out and visits from local community groups. Later in the year we look forward to a visit from a local pantomime group!”
The Davers Club, on Shakers Lane in Bury St Edmunds, opened in August 2014 adjacent to Care UK’s new Davers Court care home. The club offers flexible, full-day or by the hour care services for older people living in their own homes locally, as well as providing a valuable respite for family carers. The club also provides support for those living with Alzheimers and other forms of dementia.
