Free event to help older people in Ipswich lead healthy and happy lives

A free event to help people in their older years find new ways of leading an active, healthy and independent life will be taking place in Ipswich this week, at the Asterbury Club on Aster Road, Ipswich, on Thursday 29^th January.

The open day, at the new Care UK Day Club will include a variety of free sessions, including Otago exercises for healthy ageing with Age UK, beauty treatments such as hand massage from Julie Sillitoe and entertainment from local singer Brian Collins. The day will run from 11am to 3pm, including free lunchtime refreshments.

The Asterbury Club is adjacent to Asterbury Place care home and offers flexible day and respite care services to help older people stay living in their own homes for longer, whilst keeping active and independent. The open day will also provide an opportunity to view the new Day Club and facilities, as well as talking to the care team about how the club can support older people, including those living with dementia.   

Jon Hammond, the Asterbury Club manager, said: “The Asterbury Club is a real community asset that provides support not just for the older community, but for their relatives, friends and family carers too”.
