Singing with Christmas cheer at Mildenhall Lodge

Residents at Mildenhall Lodge care home in St John’s Close, Mildenhall, enjoyed their first Christmas in their new home with a visit from Lakenheath Silver Band on 16 December.

The band played traditional Christmas songs and carols whilst residents, relatives and Care UK colleagues all sang along and, afterwards, enjoyed a home-baked mince pie and a glass of mulled wine.

Elena Bratu, home manager at Mildenhall Lodge, said: “We all had such a wonderful time singing along together, and it was especially lovely to see so many relatives come along and join in too.

“Everyone enjoyed it so much that we have booked the Lakenheath Silver Band to come and play here again this month. We’re all looking forward to it!”

The residents at Mildenhall Lodge enjoyed a wonderful first Christmas in their new home, which opened in June 2014. As well as the Lakenheath Silver Band performance, they enjoyed a Christmas party, live music and activities such as making Christmas cards and decorating the Christmas trees in the home. 

Frances Owen, activities co-ordinator at Mildenhall Lodge, said: “Christmas is such a special time of the year and we were delighted that all the residents could get involved and enjoy the festivities.”
