99th birthday celebrations at Stratford-upon-Avon care home

Celebrations were in full swing last week at Care UK’s Ambleside care home in Stratford-upon-Avon, as one of its residents celebrated his 99^th birthday.

John Mills, who has lived at the home since September 2014, turned 99 years young on Tuesday 27 January. Family and friends joined the Ambleside team for a tea party with a birthday cake, made by the home’s award winning chef.

Dawn Leaver, home manager at Ambleside, said: “Celebrating John’s 99^th birthday here at Ambleside was such an honour and everyone had a wonderful time. We always take the time to celebrate special days like birthdays and anniversaries and we like to make all residents feel at home by keeping to any traditions they may have.”

John was born in 1916 and joined the RAF in WW2. He served in Singapore and Burma, working on the aircrafts. He was a member of Squadron 67 and is proud to be a Burma Star Veteran. John met his beloved wife Joan in 1940 and they recently celebrated their 71^st wedding anniversary at Ambleside with their two children, Jane and John.

Situated on Evesham Road, Ambleside is a state-of-the-art care home which provides full time residential, nursing and dementia care, as well as short term respite care. Designed to support residents to live enjoyable and fulfilling lives, the home has a cinema, hair salon and there is plenty of space both indoors and out for relaxation and recreation.
