Afternoon of dementia support at Ascot care home

Home news

Care UK, one of the UK’s leading independent providers of health and social care services, is inviting people in Ascot and surrounding areas to find out more about dementia on Wednesday 15th April at its Larkland House care home.

From 2pm to 5pm, Mark Harrison, Dementia Specialist Trainer at Care UK, will lead the free event at the care home to share his knowledge and provide practical guidance for those caring for someone living with dementia. Mark will be looking at the realities of dementia and will be discussing coping mechanisms and tactics for dealing with the condition’s associated behaviours.

After the event, Mark will be on hand to answer any questions and there will also be an opportunity for members of the public to meet the carers at Larkland House.

Danielle Plant, Customer Relations Manager at Larkland House, said: “With dementia affecting 850,000 people in the UK and a startling 25 million people having a close friend or family member living with the condition, there is a real and pressing need to open up access to professional support and information, and to ensure there are places people can go where they can share individual experiences.

“By hosting a free seminar on the subject, we can provide people in Ascot and surrounding areas with expert advice and give them a chance to find out more about dementia services in the area.”

Those who attend the experience dementia seminar at Larkland House will also be able to pick up a copy of Care UK’s ‘Listen, Talk, Connect’ – a free guide which helps friends and relatives to overcome the challenges they may face in having conversations and general interaction with those living with dementia.

Situated on London Road, Larkland House has been designed to deliver the very best standards of care and to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives. The home provides full time residential, nursing and specialist dementia care, as well as short term respite and day care.
