Care home colleagues tackle Bury St Edmunds Race for Life

Home news

A team of colleagues from Mildenhall Lodge care home tackled the Race for Life in Bury St Edmunds on Sunday 28th June, raising more than £700 for Cancer Research.

The ‘Mildenhall Ladies’ received cheers of support from some of the care home’s residents and their families, who turned out to congratulate the team at the finish line.

The Mildenhall Lodge colleagues, dressed in pink tutus and legwarmers, took part in the 10 kilometre race at Nowton Park in Bury St Edmunds.

Frances Owen, senior carer at Mildenhall Lodge, said: “Taking part in the Race for Life this year has been great fun and we’ve really enjoyed it as a team. The residents at Mildenhall Lodge and their families have all been really supportive and seeing them waving at the finish line was a lovely moment. We’d like to thank all those who have helped us fundraise such a great amount for Cancer Research.”

The Mildenhall Lodge team are already planning their next fundraising event, a summer fete on 25th July with a barbecue, bouncy castle and jumble sale in aid of Alzheimer’s Society. Members at the adjacent Mildenhall Lodge day club will also be making jewellery and painting jars to sell at the fete.
