Leamington Spa care home set to brew up a storm for charity

Home news

The team at Priors House care home will be putting the kettle on for the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning on 25th September to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.

From 11am to 12:30pm, local people are invited to pop in to the care home on Old Milverton Lane and enjoy a leisurely cuppa with residents, along with a tempting selection of homemade cakes – all of which will be available for a small donation to Macmillan. There will also be a ‘guess the weight of the cake’ competition.  A variety entertainer will also be entertaining attendees with favourites from popular musicals.

Julia Joy, home manager at Priors House, said: “The Macmillan Coffee Morning provides us with an excellent opportunity to raise funds for a very important cause while bringing people together for a fun, social event.  We are all looking forward to opening our doors on Friday and welcoming the local community, family and friends along to Priors House for a cuppa, a slice of cake and a chat.”

The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is Macmillan’s biggest fundraising event for people facing cancer.  Last year alone the initiative raised £25 million for the charity, thanks to people from all over the UK hosting their own coffee mornings and making donations on the day to Macmillan.
