Perry Manor celebrates Worcester’s diamond couple

Home news

Perry Manor care home in Worcester put on a sparkling celebration for residents Patricia and Leslie Woolley as they celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary.

The devoted couple, who married in 1956, celebrated with their family and friends as well as other residents and staff.

The day of celebrations included a personal congratulatory card from The Queen and a cake which had been hand-baked by head chef, Peter McGregor.

Pushpa Sagoo, home manager at Perry Manor, said: “We understand the importance of special milestones at Perry Manor and celebrating a diamond wedding anniversary is a remarkable achievement. Everyone had a fantastic time and it was an honour to celebrate such a wonderful occasion with the couple.”

Patricia was born in Ruislip on 3rd October 1935 and moved to Kings Norton in 1946. Leslie was born in Sheldon on 27th March 1932. The couple met in 1954 on a blind date organised by their friends.

Just two years later, Leslie and Pat were married at St Agnes Church, Kings Norton, Birmingham, and they had three children, Yvonne, Paul and Anita. They also have seven grandchildren. They lived together in Solihull until they both moved to Perry Manor care home in Worcester to be closer to their family in August 2015.

Leslie was very active in his younger years and he enjoyed playing many sports, including cricket, table tennis, darts and football. Pat was an active member of the League for Health & Beauty. The couple both loved spending time in Wales, holidaying at their log cabin in Snowdonia.
