Weekly outings keep Framlingham care home residents active and independent

Residents at Care UK’s Mills Meadow care home in Framlingham enjoy keeping active with a weekly group outing to local attractions such as the seaside and the theatre.

Recently residents have enjoyed an ice cream on Southwold Pier, an afternoon show at the Spa Pavilion in Felixstowe and a spot of birdwatching at RSPB Minsmere.

Charlotte Golder, who was appointed as lifestyle coordinator at Mills Meadow in November 2015, is responsible for planning residents’ activities and trips out. Charlotte said: “We all really enjoy the weekly outings – we ask the residents where they would like to go and what they would like do, then we plan the trip together. Keeping active and visiting favourite places, especially for those living with dementia, is really important so we make sure residents have the opportunity to get out and about and to continue doing the things they love.”

In the coming months Mills Meadow are looking forward to a trip to the zoo, local museums and a boat trip along the River Waveney.
