Celebrations as Jade makes it to the finals of the Great British Care Awards

Home news

Excitement is mounting at Care UK’s Field Lodge care home in St. Ives, where team leader, Jade Sweeney, has reached the national finals of the Great British Care Awards.

An annual initiative supported by the likes of the Department of Health and the United Kingdom Home Care Association (UKHCA), the Great British Care Awards are a celebration of excellence across the care sector. The purpose of the awards is to pay tribute to individuals who have demonstrated outstanding performance within their field of work.

Having being named Dementia Carer of the Year at the East of England Care Awards, Jade was invited to attend a recent judging day which put her skills and professional knowledge to the test.  She will find out if she has scooped a national award when the winners are revealed at a glittering award ceremony in May.

Jade, aged 25 from Bluntisham joined the Field Lodge team when it first opened its doors in February 2014.  In her role as team leader, Jade manages the packed programme of events and activities at the care home on London Road.  She also works closely with residents, including those living with dementia, to help them to lead active and fulfilled lives.

Lisa Houghton, home manager at Field Lodge, said: “Jade is a passionate and caring team leader who makes a positive difference to the lives of residents at Field Lodge, and we are all absolutely thrilled she has reached the finals of the Great British Care Awards.

“We were all very excited for Jade when she was presented with the regional award and the feedback from the judges at that stage was fantastic. They noted how although she is one of the youngest candidates in her category, Jade is a great ambassador for the care sector.  We are all now looking forward to the national finals and to giving Jade our support on the night.

Jade said: “I am really excited to have made it to the finals of the Great British Care Awards.  At Field Lodge I am lucky to work as part of a great team and together we all take a real pride in providing the very best standards of care for all residents, including those living with dementia. It is an amazing feeling to have received recognition from the care sector for this is on a regional level, let alone to be in the running for a national award.”
