Linda Martinez, home manager at Hinton Grange, says the higher level standard is typical of Eddie’s approach. “Eddie is always asking for the residents’ feedback so he can improve what he and his team serve up. He’s also improving his skills all the time. He recently attended a course about producing food for people who have difficulty swallowing – often a complication of living with dementia. He’s put everything he learns into practice to improve the dining experience for those people requiring a specific textured diet.”
Eddie, who has been at Hinton Grange since late 2015, has worked in food service in the care home industry for ten years. Prior to that, he spent two decades working for Cunard.
Says Linda, “Eddie and his team are always going further and doing more for residents. They serve up homemade cakes every day for residents to enjoy with afternoon tea. We recently held an Italian day where residents could choose from an Italian themed menu throughout the day. And when we held an indoor street party for the Queen’s 90th birthday, residents and their families were full of praise for the spread laid on by the kitchen staff.
“In the short time that Eddie has been at Hinton Grange he’s been spearheading improvements in the dining experience, ensuring residents’ dietary requirements are met in a dignified way regardless of their medical or cultural needs. He’s already made a huge difference, and I want to thank him, and congratulate him on his new qualification,” concludes Linda.
