Oak House care home invites people in Slough to celebrate Care Home Open Day

Home news

Care UK’s Oak House care home in Slough, is inviting local people to visit the home on Forest Close on Friday 17th June to join in its celebrations for Care Home Open Day.

From 10am until 2pm, the team at Oak House will be opening the doors to the care home for a free family-friendly event. The day is in celebration of Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative to create lasting relationships between care homes and their local communities.

A pamper room will be set up at Oak House, giving residents and visitors the opportunity to enjoy a relaxing treatment.  There will be fun fairground games; and coffee, tea and homemade cakes will also be available.  All those who drop by on the day can take a tour of the care home and meet residents and the Care UK team at Oak House.

Julie Bignell, home manager at Oak House, said: “Care Home Open Day is about connecting people and enriching the lives of residents through building lasting relationships with the local community across the generations.

“Opening our doors is also a great opportunity to show what life is really like in a modern care home; and we hope to change any preconceptions people might have while also showing everything Oak House has to offer.

“We have got a fun day of activities planned and are really looking forward to getting behind Care Home Open Day on Friday 17th June and welcoming the people of Slough to be a part of it.”

Visitors to the Care Home Open Day event at Oak House will also be able to pick up their copy of Care UK’s Eating as we Age.  The latest in a series of free guides for family carers, Eating as we age is packed with hints and tips for keeping healthy and hydrated in older age.  The guide can also be downloaded free at www.careuk.com/eat
