From 12noon until 2pm, the team at The Willows will be opening the doors to the care home for a free family-friendly event. The day is in celebration of Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative to create lasting relationships between care homes and their local communities.
Residents and visitors will be able to enjoy outdoor bowling games and gardening activities at The Willows. There will also be complimentary refreshments, and all those who drop-by will have the opportunity to tour the home and meet residents and the Care UK team at The Willows.
Helen Nutton, home manager at The Willows, said: “Care Home Open Day is about connecting people and enriching the lives of residents through building lasting relationships with the local community across the generations.
“Opening our doors is also a great opportunity to show what life is really like in a modern care home; and we hope to change any preconceptions people might have while also showing everything The Willows has to offer.
“We have got a fun day of activities planned and are really looking forward to getting behind Care Home Open Day on Sunday 19th June and welcoming the people of Middlesbrough to be a part of it.”
Visitors to the Care Home Open Day event at The Willows will also be able to pick up their copy of Care UK’s Eating as we Age. The latest in a series of free guides for family carers, Eating as we age is packed with hints and tips for keeping healthy and hydrated in older age. The guide can also be downloaded free at www.careuk.com/eat
