Care UK invites people in Halstead to celebrate Care Home Open Day

Colne View care home in Halstead is inviting local people to visit the home on Dame Mary Walk on Friday 17th June to join in its celebrations for Care Home Open Day.

From 11am-2pm, the team at Colne View will be opening the doors to the care home for a free family-friendly event. The day is in celebration of Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative to create lasting relationships between care homes and their local communities. 

The theme of this year’s event at Colne View is the Rio 2016 Olympics and there will be fun sports days activities everyone can get involved in.  Residents and visitors will also be able to enjoy a barbecue prepared and cooked by the home’s head chef, a face painter will be on hand, and the day will close with a performance from the Colne View residents’ choir.

Omar Taylor, home manager at Colne View, said: “Care Home Open Day is about connecting people and enriching the lives of residents through building lasting relationships with the local community across the generations.  

“Opening our doors is also a great opportunity to show what life is really like in a modern care home; and we hope to change any preconceptions people might have while also showing everything Colne View has to offer. 

“We have got a fun day of activities planned and are really looking forward to getting behind Care Home Open Day on Friday 17th June and welcoming the people of Halstead to be a part of it.” 

Visitors to the Care Home Open Day event at Colne View will also be able to pick up their copy of Care UK’s Eating as we Age.  The latest in a series of free guides for family carers, Eating as we age is packed with hints and tips for keeping healthy and hydrated in older age.
