From 11am to 4pm, the team at Silversprings will be opening the doors to the care home for a free family-friendly event. The day is in celebration of Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative to create lasting relationships between care homes and their local communities.
The theme of this year’s event at Silversprings is the Rio 2016 Olympics, and residents and visitors will be able to enjoy Brazilian-inspired activities and fun games. To bring the flavour of Rio de Janeiro to Colchester, there will also be a delicious barbecue with a Brazilian twist. All those who drop-by on the day can tour the home and gardens at Silversprings and meet the Care UK team at the home.
Maggie Ziemianska, home manager at Silversprings, said: “Care Home Open Day is about connecting people and enriching the lives of residents through building lasting relationships with the local community across the generations.
“Opening our doors is also a great opportunity to show what life is really like in a modern care home; and we hope to change any preconceptions people might have while also showing everything Silversprings has to offer.
“We have got a fun day of activities planned and are really looking forward to getting behind Care Home Open Day on Friday 17th June and welcoming the people of Silversprings to be a part of it.”
Visitors to the Care Home Open Day event at Silversprings will also be able to pick up their copy of Care UK’s Eating as we Age. The latest in a series of free guides for family carers, Eating as we age is packed with hints and tips for keeping healthy and hydrated in older age.
