Resident, Rhona Francis, and her husband Alan Francis joined Mr Jenkin for the ceremonial ribbon cutting. The Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Brightlingsea, Councillor Karen Yallop and Councillor Ian Block, also attended the event, along with the Chairman of Tendring District Council, Councillor Jayne Chapman.
Members of the local community also dropped-in to participate in the celebrations and to take a first look at the suite which will accommodate up to 15 residents.
Home manager, Maggie Ziemianska, said: “The Care UK team has built a warm, welcoming community here at Silversprings, and we are thrilled to announce the expansion of our existing services with the opening of the Bluebell Suite.
“This latest addition to Silversprings means we can now provide even greater continuity of care for existing residents; and for the first time we can also welcome new residents who require round-the-clock nursing care.”
Bernard Jenkin, MP for Harwich and North Essex, added: “It was great to meet residents and the Care UK team at Silversprings, and to see many local people turn out for a closer look at the Bluebell Suite. The care home is now well-placed to help meet the demand that exists in Colchester and surrounding areas for high quality residential nursing care.”
